As one of EYE Filmmuseum’s Programmers of The Future 2022-2023, Janilda Bartolomeu made her first foray into the realm of film programming. The year long trajectory allowed her to experiment with filmmaking as another avenue to express the ideas she’s developed over the years to a broader audience.
Black Atlantic Visions was a showcase of contemporary films and video installations from the region also known as the Black Atlantic. In the absence of traditional archives, these people held onto histories and reinvented cultures through the conscious abyss of the Atlantic Ocean- accessed through their imagination, spirituality, and speculation.
